I read the excellent article Robert Fisk: Iran's day of destiny of the English journalist Robert Fisk of The Independent "which is my main source for information about what is happening in the east, both for its presence, its ability as a feather, but especially for its intelligence to understand the things happening in a broader spectrum that goes beyond the simple story and is always related to the history and analysis. Azadi Tower, the most representative monuments of Tehran.
Azadi Tower ('' '''''', in Persian, meaning to "Freedom Tower") is the most representative monuments of the city of Tehran in Iran. Emblem of the country's modernization, the Azadi Tower has a truncated structure, revealing in each corner a different sense of scale and perspective. Inside the tower there is a small archaeological museum and a lookout to view the spotlight on the Iranian capital and the famous Azadi Square.
It was built in 1971 to commemorate the 2500 anniversary of the Persian Empire, and is situated in one of the entrances of Teheran. Its unmistakable silhouette and 45 meters in height makes it unique, is surrounded by gardens. Visible from many parts of the city, especially at night when fully illuminated. From the upper terrace is a good overview of the city.
