Divide and Unite Files on GNU / Linux
In Windows there are many programs capable of cutting a file into several smaller ones and then go to together to form the original. It's very fashionable to send big things by mail or upload files to public servants who impose a maximum file size. The best known and is used Axe, and users of GNU / Linux we also have some alternatives for our system that are compatible with Windows programs chippers.
Dalle is a joint program to manage libraries and archives cut. One such programme is dalle-gtk, which displays a window in which you can select which of the two operations is to be realised: unite or divide a file several parts into one.
At its download page at Sourceforge is available for download the source code and a package DEB format for Ubuntu and Debian.
The list of supported formats is very broad:
Astrotite
Axman 3
Easy File Splitter
File Splitter
Generic
Axe (1, 2 and Pro)
KamaleoN (1 and 2)
MaxSplitter
SplitFile
Zip
Once installed we will have available the executable program. With Dallas-console can perform all tasks from the terminal.
Hoz, as Rubens says in his blog, is another Axe for GNU / Linux. It works in command line and is very easy to use.
If you want to attach multiple files it is best to put them all into a directory and execute the command:
sickle-p archivo.0 archivo.1 archivo.2> archivo_original
To split a file into several smaller (all put into the command), the command is very similar:
sickle-c archivo_original> archivo.0 archivo.1 archivo.2
Hoz is in the repositories of most distributions, but also the source code can be downloaded from the website of the project.
Thanks for the idea, Gabriel.
